Why Best Practices Aren't Good Enough

Why Best Practices Aren't Good Enough

One of the management buzzwords really getting a lot of attention is that of “Best Practice.”  Wherever you look, you will see people writing about or speaking to the virtues of doing or being “Best Practice.”

It doesn’t matter the type or size of your business is, it seems that everyone in the business world says you “must adopt best practice,” and that if you don’t, you will surely be left behind in your chosen marketplace. Yet, for many of us, “best practice” just feels wrong.

What’s the Future of the CEDIA Industry?

It’s Time to Go Beyond DIY to DIFM

What’s the Future of the CEDIA Industry?

Times are changing for the CEDIA channel. Shifting customer expectations and the growth of DIY smart home products have affected the way integrators sell their products and services – or at least they should have. Unfortunately, many AV companies have stuck with the same business model that they were using a decade ago, and it’s starting to show.

There’s no putting the DIY genie back in the bottle. It’s here to stay. What’s less certain is whether or not CEDIA integrators will continue to fight against it or embrace it as a new opportunity for growing their businesses.

Home Technology Pros is choosing the “new opportunity” option with our home technology franchise model. Here’s why:

A Glimpse into the Vast Opportunity for Home-Based Technology Franchises

Who Benefits from Home Technology Pros?

When developing the Home Technology Pros business model, we decided not to focus on the ultra-high-end homes with golf simulators and IMAX theaters. It’s incredibly fun technology to install, but in our opinion, there’s a far larger opportunity to be had: the everyday American.

Technology is no longer reserved for the ultra-wealthy. It’s in every home. Currently, the average household has at least seven connected devices, and that number is growing fast. By 2020, it is estimated there will be a shortage of over 2 million trained technicians available to meet the demand for home technology products and services. What an incredible opportunity for a home-based technology franchise!

The Story Behind Our Smart Home Franchise

A Vision for a Standardized, Predictable In-Home Technology Experience

The Story Behind Our Smart Home Franchise

Written by Marc Bailey, founder of Home Technology Pros

I grew up on a horse ranch in West Virginia, but I’ve always loved technology. My father was a successful entrepreneur, but made it perfectly clear to me that there would be no free lunch under his roof.  He made certain that my brothers and I understood exactly what was expected of us in terms of our daily responsibilities and the general level of hard work that would be required.  Snow, rain, heat, not feeling well, so what?  Constant maintenance of the property waited for no one.  Like it or not, there wasn’t a choice.

When I wasn’t busy painting fences, bailing hay or cleaning horse stalls, I spent a large portion of my free time obsessing over the latest gaming consoles and computers.  So, it was natural that this passion would lead me to a career where I could embrace a solid work ethic but still get to work with technology every day.

Why There’s Never Been a Better Time to be a Home Technologist

It’s Good to Be a Home Technologist with Krika!

There's a kind of business opportunity that only happens once every 30 years or so in a given market. And in our industry that time is now. For those who are willing to see it there has never been a better time to make money in the history of home technology. Never have consumers needed so much help and technological guidance. With an open mind, it's clear to see that this market isn't about DIY.

The New College Degree: Starting Your Own Franchise

Put Your Love of Technology to Good Use.

The New College Degree: Starting Your Own Franchise

In America, there’s no denying that college is seen as the requisite next step after graduating from high school. The pressure is on to get a college degree – whether you end up using that degree in your career or working in that planned field is another story. With the price of college tuition skyrocketing and far more educated people entering the workforce than there are positions to fill, it’s clear that an alternative path is needed.

Speaking from personal experience, that path is to start a franchised business. If you agree with my sentiment in the first paragraph, then bear with me as I outline why starting a home-based technology franchise is the best career and life decision you can make.
